The Caux Challenge is a campaign for those who want to raise money for Caux's crucial work to advance human security.
Caux has no big financial backers. The Caux Forum costs about CHF 450,000 annually and that comes largely from the participants themselves, most of whom have covered their travel and conference costs from their organizations or their own resources.
The conference fees are modest by Swiss standards. CHF 750.- covers 7-nights board and participation. But some participants need our help. Those from regions of conflict and deprivation are often unable to find funding themselves, and there are others doing outstanding work who cannot afford to take part.
Also, it's a huge challenge to respond to the growing number of requests to help develop in the field the plans which emerge at the Forum.
We need your help. The challenges facing humanity are immense.
Here are some examples of Caux Challenge initiatives in support of the 2011 Forum which raised money for participant fees and the Restoring Earth's Degraded Land (REDL) initiative:
- Destiny Stenbeck - hosted a BBQ in Geneva to raise money for one person's participation in the Forum
- Fabiola Benevente - searching the Lacandon jungle of Chiapas, Mexico for hectares of land to restore, in support of international participation in the Forum
- Super Yacht Services - Swearing for charity! Every time someone swore in the office they had to donate to the Caux Challenge
- Rob Lancaster - hosted a Dinner in Canberra on 14 May to raise money for the Forum
- Erik Parsons - sold his own hair to support international participation in Restoring Earth's degraded land
